Follow the Fiddler, a unique outdoor historical pageant, charmed Islanders and visitors for three seasons beginning in 2009. We embraced the Island born and bred show which was written by PEI’s past Poet Laureate David Helwig, and featured original songs and poems by Island artists, including well-known singer/songwriter Lennie Gallant and the Peoples’ Poet Milton Acorn. Audiences loved the secret village trail they were lead along by fiddler Cynthia MacLeod and Playhouse artistic director and storyteller Erskine Smith.
Unfortunately, the expenses of producing Follow the Fiddler far outweigh the income generated by ticket sales. We could not subsidize Follow the Fiddler again in 2012 without jeopardizing the Victoria Playhouse Festival as a whole.
We would like to bring Follow the Fiddler back – perhaps in a smaller, reworked version. To do this, we need the dedicated financial support of an organization or individuals.
Can you help bring Follow the Fiddler back? Contact Erskine Smith by email or by calling 902-658-2370 for more information. Thank you.
